Entry One Summer Assignment

            In the book I chose the main characters are Minerva, but she likes to be called Min, and Ed Slaterton. In this book there are many settings. For example there is Al's house, the Carnelian, Min's house, the Lopsided diner, Leopardi's, Metropolitan Multiplex Cinemas, and Green Mountain Hardware. To just name a few. The conflict in Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler is Min and Ed dated for a few months and Min kept a souvenir from every date they went on. Min is trying to figure out why they broke up. I think that once Min goes through every souvenir, she will be over Ed and will be happy again. This can be relatable to anyone who has ever been in a relationship that didn't have a happily ever after ending. This is also relatable to scrape bookers; this is because Min kept souvenirs and so do scrape bookers. This kind of story does not relate to any romantic movies out there since all romantic movies end with the girl and the guy happily together. And in the book it is the opposite. I think this book would make a great movie, as long as the movie stays with the book. If this was a movie it would be a totally different kind of movie that won't have a happily ever after but that's okay, there's already a ton of Cinderella's and her Prince Charming's.
