This column is about kids and there legos. It tells you the love they have for them, the parents thoughts about them, how captivating they are, and the joy they bring to the kids and the parents.
A line I think is the best written is "Then feet will pad up the basement stairs to show parents what's been created. And they'll pad right back down to tear it apart and move on to freestyle". The reason I think this is the best line is because of the diction, syntax, and tone. I really liked the diction in this sentence because it tops off the whole story. Krista Ramsey could have just said, the child run upstairs to show their parents what they made. Then they went back downstairs tore what they made apart and made something else. But she didn't, she used elevated diction. I also liked the syntax, I like this because when a sentence ends that is showing a new part of the story starts and I really liked that. And I also liked the tone of this sentence. The tone of this sentence is happy and that's also the tone of the whole column. When the tone of what you're reading is happy, you're happy.
Krista Ramsey's writing style is journalistic. I know this because 1) she writes column and when I think of columns, I think of new papers 2)she writes in a professional way that's easy for people to read and 3)she is reviewing a certain event which is usually what people in news papers do. An example of her writing that shows it journalistic is,"At 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, a long line of small- to medium-sized children snakes along the main concourse of Kenwood Towne Centre." This quote shows her style is journalistic because she is telling the reader about a certain place, time, and event.
3 Questions:
- Does someone come to here and ask her to review a event that person/group is hosting?
- How long has Krista Ramsey been a professional writer?
- When did Krista Ramsey know that show wanted to be a writer?
